Offering Advanced Diagnostic Care for Pets
Examining your pet on the outside only gives us half of the bigger picture regarding their health. For a more complete evaluation, we need diagnostics to fill in the gaps and find things we were perhaps not even looking for. Since your pet is not able to tell us how they're feeling, we need to take that extra step and utilize our laboratory, X-ray, or ultrasound capabilities to make a diagnosis.
Our diagnostics tools are safe for pets of any age, be they healthy or sick. Furthermore, our team is well-trained and accommodating to make every diagnostic procedure quick, pain-free, and as low-stress as possible.
X-ray imaging is an excellent tool for clearly visualizing your pet's bones and other internal structures. This non-invasive, painless procedure uses very low levels of radiation that are safe even for very young or pregnant pets. Our state-of-the-art X-ray equipment helps us detect and diagnose various issues, including:
- Bone fractures
- Heart disease
- Foreign bodies in the GI tract
- Oral health problems like dental disease and tooth resorption
Using Sound to Examine Your Pet
The Animalife Veterinary Center at Eagle Creek can enlist the services of a certified ultrasonographer to perform ultrasound procedures when needed. Ultrasound uses advanced technology to create real-time, moving images out of sound wave echoes. A small probe emits the sound waves, which penetrate the skin and ricochet off the soft tissue organs. The resulting echoes are converted into electrical impulses, which the machine then translates into an image on the viewing screen.
Ultrasound is most effective for studying the abdominal and chest cavities. It shows us the size, shape, texture, and function of various internal organs and can also alert us to:
- Animal pregnancies
- Abnormal organ function
- Bladder stones
- Cysts and tumors
- Fluid in the abdomen
